THIRTY-THREE suspected criminals popularly known as ‘junkies’ have appeared in the Lusaka Magistrate’s Court for the offences of idle and disorderly behavior.

The thirty three junkies were last month arrested following a clean up exercise after complaints from members of the public.

And police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale said the 33 aged between 18 and 35 were all charged and arrested with the offence of Idle and Disorderly Persons contrary to section 178 (f) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

“All the 33 ‘junkies’ aged between 18 and 35 who were apprehended during the operation in Lusaka recently have appeared before the Lusaka Magistrate court.

Our operation aimed at making communities and the Central Business District (CBD) free from criminal gangs will continue,” he said.
