The newly-formed FAZ Women National Division One league kicks-off on 20 November with 17 teams expected to be zoned during its inaugural season that will run until April 2023.
The northern zone comprises Central Province teams north of Kabwe, Copperbelt, North Western, Muchinga, Luapula and Northern Provinces while teams from the southern portion of Central Province, Lusaka, Southern, Western and Eastern provinces will form the southern zone.
Among the notables in the southern zone include Luyando Foundation, Chipata Girls, and Pataaki while Nchanga Queens, Kanfinsa Blue Eaglets and Solwezi Girls Academy are expected among the competitors in the northern zone.
144 matches will be played over 18 rounds of the tournament and the top two teams in each zone will be promoted to the Super Division of the National Women’s League while bottom two teams will drop back into the already existing Provincial Leagues.
The 16-game season will allow for ease of playing matches with the FIFA windows being used as rest periods.
