Zambia Air Force Commander, Lt General Colin Barry has said his Command will continue with its deliberate strategic policy of prioritising personnel welfare among other issues because he understood how a well-motivated workforce is a prerequisite to combat capability and effectiveness.
He told personnel that Command’s intent was that personnel have no distractions but remain focused and committed to duty.
The Air Force Commander was speaking in Lusaka on Friday, 21 October 2022 when he officially commissioned a Junior Ranks Club (JRC) at ZAF Lusaka Air Force Base meant to service junior ranks as a recreational facility.
“Command’s intent is that personnel have no distractions but remain focused and committed to duty. It is for this reason that the construction of office infrastructure, sleeping quarters and improvement of permanent structures for deployed personnel as well as messing facilities among many other projects is part of the big picture of the Air Force,” said General Barry.
The Air Force Commander also took the opportunity to assure personnel of Command’s continued commitment towards looking into the welfare of personnel and their families.
On the operational front, General Barry said the Zambia Air Force was better prepared and more combat capable now than before. He said the Air Force was going to continue expanding in the scope of its capabilities as well as promoting an atmosphere to enhance civil military relations and lend the needed support to the government.
