Mr. Kelvin Kamayoyo, Expo Advisor-Western Province said the upcoming Western Province Tourism, Trade and lnvestment Expo will help to deepen regional trade integration through promoting exports of Zambian products to regional niche markets such as Angola, Zimbabwe, Nambia, Congo DR and Botswana and by repositioning the Province as a viable international gateway including showcasing the abundant but unexploited investment opportunities in sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, livestock and fisheries. Mr. Kamayoyo said this on Friday, 16th September, 2022 during the ZNBC Radio 2 Morning Breakfast Show at Mass Media Complex in Lusaka.
Mr. Kamayoyo stated that the recently launched 8th National Development Plan by His Excellency, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia is a very good development Plan that will help accelerate economic development, create employment opportunities and improve the livelihoods of the people of Western Province going forward. He noted that the theme for the Western Province Tourism, Trade and lnvestment Expo resonates very well with the strategic objectives of the 8th National Development Plan because it also focuses on rapid economic transformation and home-grown solutions through promoting local entrepreneurship. The theme for the Western Province Tourism, Trade and Investment Expo is “Rapid Economic Transformation through increased home-grown entrepreneurship, value addition and trade” and through this the Province will promote socioeconomic development in an inclusive and multifaceted way, said Kamayoyo.
Mr. Kamayoyo, further emphasised that the upcoming Western Province Expo is unique because it is focusing at home-grown solutions, encouraging manufacturing companies to setup factories and securing export trade contracts into neighbouring countries such as Angola. He stated that for the Expo to be meaningful and leave an indelible mark the Province has set-up indicators that will act as critical measures of performance such as the number of investment deals clinched and number of supply contracts signed between suppliers and buyers during the week long event from the 10th to 15th October, 2022 in Mongu.
