The Zambia Police Service working together with Zambia Air Force (ZAF) over the weekend conducted a joint tour of Mumbwa District where illegal gold mining is reported to be on an increase.
The Inspector General of Police Lemmy Kajoba warned the officers manning the area to be professional in executing their duties.
“If anyone is identified conniving with the illegal miners to share the spoil, there is only one way to solve that problem. There will be no disciplinary charge but arrest and be taken to court and kicked out of the Service as indiscipline by any officer will not be tolerated,” Mr. Kajoba charged.
The Inspector General of Police also thanked his counterpart The Zambia Air Force Commander Colin Barry for the collaboration in maintaining Law and order.
And the Zambia Air Force Commander Lt General Colin Barry said, Natural resources must benefit everyone in the country and mining must be done in an orderly manner. He further warned that whoever is known abrogating the law by doing illegal mining or offering bribes to the officers will be dealt with severely by the Law.
Lt. General Barry stated that his command will work closely with the Zambia Police Service in bringing perpetrators to book as any form of corruption will not be tolerated.
