The New Heritage Party says the overwhelming turn-out of youths for the aptitude tests for Census Supervisors and Enumerators at the Zambia Statistics Agency is scary and a very loud wake-up call to the authorities.
Party President Chishala Kateka says the nation needs to look at this youth unemployment problem and come up with a solution sooner rather than later as the country is sitting on a serious time bomb.
She says the creation of formal employment, through the recruitment of teachers and health workers is laudable but is a very small drop in the ocean.
Ms.Kateka has suggested that a team comprising those with potential solutions to the youth unemployment issue be constituted to come up with proposed solutions that Government can consider and start implementing.
