Many people do not know that at the time of her appointment as Managing Director of ZSIC in 2002, Madam Irene Muyenga was Manager for Individual Life, meaning she reported to a Deputy Director who also reported to Director- Life & Pensions as per company structure. I joined ZSIC same year but before her appointment, meaning I was equally her boss (and I used to chair meetings where she would sit at the edge of the boardroom table as one of the managers)!
Her appointment meant that she rose above her superiors in an instant. My personal take-away was that at times having a position may not be enough to take us to the next level. How we manage the position we are entrusted to oversee can easily influence how far we go in life. ‘“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’’’ Matt 25:23.
I also appreciated the experience of King Solomon (as commonly accepted) when he wrote, ‘I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.’ Eccle 9:11.
Have a great start to the new week, dear friends, as you raise the bar of your life expectations!
