The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested an officer from the Department of National Registration for corrupt practices involving over K30, 000.
Agrippa Himuyandi, 40, an Assistant Registration Officer under the Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship, of Chisonga Plots in Mongu, has been charged with three counts of corrupt practices by Public Officer.
Investigations have revealed that between 1st August 2020 and 31st December 2020, Himuyandi, whilst working at Kasama National Registration Office, did contact a named individual to find ten other persons to be recruited to the National Mobile Registration Exercise which was to take place in Northern Province in preparation for the 2021 General Elections.
Three individuals were subsequently recruited and investigations established that Himuyandi solicited for K10, 000 from each of them and in fact did receive a total of K7, 000 cash gratification as an inducement or reward for facilitating their recruitment.
In a statement, ACC Spokesperson Queen Chibwe said Himuyandi has since been released on Bond and will appear in court soon.
