The Council of NGOs in Zambia says it is pleased that Cabinet at its 12th meeting, approved in principal the Non-Governmental Organizations (Repeal and Replacement) Bill.
Council of NGOs in Zambia Chairperson McDonald Chipenzi says the repeal and replacement process of the controversial NGO Act is long overdue as it has been ongoing for close to 11 years with efforts to engage the relevant ministries on the matter failing to yield positive results.
Mr. Chipenzi has commended Minister of Community Development and Social Services Doreen Mwamba for walking the talk following the last meeting held at her office with the Council of NGOs where she promised she would seek Cabinet Approval on the repeal and replacement process.
He said that the Cabinet approval in principle of the Bill marks the official start of the consultations with stakeholders on the repeal and replacement of the NGO Act number 16 of 2009.
