A good relationship doesn’t just happen, whether personal or otherwise, it has to be nurtured and paid attention to for it to be strengthened. Russia and Zambia have continued to enjoy a cordial bilateral relationship over the years. The birth of ZAMRUS has been timely and essential to this relationship and has been that cherry that compliments what’s already a beautiful cake this far.
In an effort to foster continuous flourishing of the good relationship, ZAMRUS, a Zambian association of former students of Russia and other soviet states has been engaging Russian entities like the embassy and the Russian Center among others in activities that cements the relationship even harder. In the same vain, the Russian embassy hosted a sporting event yesterday, June 4th at the Russian School in Lusaka’s Rhodespark. The event was attended by the Russian Ambassador to Zambia, H.E Azim Yarakhmedov and around a score of the ZAMRUS alumni including its executive membership among others. Here they played a number of sports out of which volleyball was the mainstay.
Despite merely just keeping the body fit from the hoping and the spiking, this event was a deliberate feat to network and to expose the local populous to what they may desire to know about Russia.
