OVER 500 jobs are expected to be created through a US$30 million Amusement Park which is scheduled to be officially opened this Saturday, October 8th, 2022.

The park which is under the name Happy Land is built on a 55 hector plot and is expected to Carter for over 3000 people.

Happy Land Chief Executive Officer Dr. Joseph Mulenga said the investment was put up by Zambians in partnership with a Chinese company who put their resources together to come up with the amusement park.

Dr. Mulenga told journalists in an interview that the Park which will be opened in phases has different offerings and is focused on providing entertainment to families and children.

“It’s a $30 million investment to offer about 500 permanent jobs to different workers. it’s a long term investment, I think the first of it’s kind in Zambia. Our target is local tourism customers, international and so on and we will make sure that we don’t price ourselves out of the market. It’s a partnership between the Zambian people and a Chinese company. Equipment is from the Chinese company and it will be operated by us Zambians. It can accommodate about 3000 people.

“There are different restaurants that will be built, a hotel will also be built here to accommodate people who come to visit this place and do not want to go back home,” he said.

Dr. Mulenga explained that in this investment, the Zambians provided local business networks and navigation of the regulatory network for business and investment opportunities while the Chinese investors provided finances to keep the facility going.

He also said the amusement park will suit the tourism profile that is affordable to the local citizens.

“Besides providing entertainment to both adults and children, the facility officers various food staffs suitable for both local and international patrons,” he said.

Dr Mulenga said in future, a modern hotel will be built to provide accommodation for families that want to relax away from home and that the facility will have different rides including a ferry wheel, a children’s play centre with lots of games and amphe theatre for big live performances for both local and international artists.

The Amusement Park is situated off Great East road near the Chongwe toll plaza about 10 minutes drive of the Central Business District (CBD).
