Police in Lusaka working with Technical support from Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA)has busted a Crime in which three Unscrupulous residents of Kashikishi have been swindling the general public of money amounting to K65,000

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says the trio have been formerly charged and arrested for three counts of obtaining money by false pretences Contrary to Section 309 Chapter 87, Theft Contrary to Section 272 and Use of Insulting Language Contrary to Section 179 Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Mr Hamoonga identified the acused Zachariah Kalobwe aged 20, a Juvenile aged 19 and Mwila Marvelous unknown age.

Brief facts are that the trio all residents of Kashikishi, Nchelenge District of Luapula province have been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public by randomly sending messages claiming to be a traditional healer “Dr Makali” from Luapula who makes magic money.

He explains that they have also been sending messages purporting to be offering recruitment in the Zambia Army and also helping out with social cash transfer schemes.

He says the suspects have defrauded members of the public a total sum of K65, 000 between unknown dates of 2020 and July, 2022.

The suspects are currently in detained in Police Custody and will appear in court soon.

Mr. Hamoonga has since urged members of the general Public that could have been swindled by these suspects to go to Chelston Police Station and report.
