In an official statement, police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga announced that Mr. Banda had been admitted to Maina Soko Medical Centre for medical treatment. Following the completion of the necessary medical procedures and being cleared for discharge by the medical staff, Mr. Banda was discharged from the medical facility and taken into police custody.

Recent reports have suggested that Mr. Banda was transferred to Chipata under police escort. The situation surrounding his case has caused a stir, with some opposition Members of Parliament staging a walkout during a session. This was triggered by a query from Nkana Member of Parliament Binwell Mpundu, who questioned the absence of a statement from Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Jack Mwiimbu regarding Mr. Banda.
In response to the concerns raised, the second deputy speaker Moses Moyo advised that ongoing investigations are being conducted, urging that the matter be left in the hands of the investigative authorities for further scrutiny.
