Over 300 Residents of Ucetekelo Community in Lusaka’s Chinyanja ward have accused some top Senior Police Officers of attempting to illegally grab their land they have stayed for more than 20 years.

The residents told Journalists that part of the land was shared among some senior police officers among them those who served in the previous government.

They have further dispelled reports that they encroached in the 1,200 hectares of land meant for farming activities for the Zambia Police Service.

The residents said in 2013 their houses and properties were destroyed by the Lusaka Planning Authority which they feel the authority did not get the truth before taking action.

One of the residents explained that the people had written to the Ministry of Lands to apply for the land but some senior police officers allegedly hijacked the process and obtained the land which they shared amongst themselves.

They said despite reporting the matter to the Anti- Corruption Commission for investigations, it has not yielded results because those to be investigated are still occupying big positions in government.

The residents have called on President Hakainde Hichilema to drop some of the senior police officers involving themselves in the matter so that the issue can be settled in court.

They said that such civil servants are the ones denting the name of the President at the time when he wants to stamp out corrupt people in Government.
