Gertrude Imenda, Deputy Secretary General of the United Party for National Development (UPND), is urging women to follow the example set by the Non-governmental Gender Organisations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) and support Nelly Mutti, the Speaker of the National Assembly. Imenda is encouraging more women to stand behind Mutti and show solidarity.

During her appearance on Phoenix FM’s Let The People Talk program, Ms. Imenda expressed her support for Ms. Mutti and encouraged her to remain resilient in the face of criticism from certain Members of Parliament. Ms. Imenda emphasized the importance of standing behind the Speaker of the National Assembly and recognizing her competence and professionalism in handling matters within the legislative body.

Ms. Imenda has addressed the claims that cadreism is still an issue under the UPND-led Government, stating that it is not a problem. Additionally, efforts are being made to encourage women to support and stand behind the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Ms. Imenda emphasizes that reports of cadreism are now isolated incidents and not as widespread as they were under the previous leadership. She encourages women to support and stand behind the Speaker of the National Assembly.
