President Hakainde Hichilema had the honor and privilege of welcoming His Excellency Dr. Frank Walter Steinmeier, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, and his delegation at State House this afternoon.
The State House recently hosted the President of Germany and his delegation, highlighting the strong and longstanding relationship between Germany and Zambia. Both countries share common values such as democracy, the rule of law, and respect for human rights. This relationship has been nurtured since Zambia gained independence in 1964 and has continued to grow stronger over the years.
The State House expresses its gratitude to the President of Germany and his delegation for their visit. We extend our appreciation to the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union for their crucial support in the debt restructuring process and their assistance in the development of the Lobito Corridor project. This project will enhance trade and transportation between Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Angola, benefiting all three neighboring countries.
This visit signifies our commitment to collaborating with Germany on various economic initiatives that will benefit both countries. Specifically, we aim to create job opportunities and foster business growth in sectors such as energy, agriculture, water and sanitation, and related technologies.
