To meet the increasing demand for agricultural products in the region, the Southern African Cross Border Traders Association is encouraging farmers in Zambia to view farming as a business. By doing so, farmers can tap into the growing market and boost production to meet the needs of the region.

Zambia’s agriculture sector has the potential to boost economic growth and improve the country’s trade balance with other nations. However, according to Association Secretary General Jacob Makambwe, many farmers are only growing crops for personal consumption and have not yet realized the full potential of the industry. Makambwe is urging farmers to increase production in order to meet the growing demand for agricultural products in the region.

Zambia’s farmers are being encouraged to increase their production in order to meet the growing demand for agricultural products in the region. According to Mr. Makambwe, this will require adopting a modern agricultural business model and working together through cooperatives to improve the welfare of farmers. By doing so, they can not only meet the current demand but also potentially expand their reach and impact in the future.

Zambia has the potential to become a major agricultural player in the region, but experts are urging farmers to increase production in order to meet growing demand. Despite the country’s fertile land and favorable climate, agricultural policies have not focused enough on crop diversification and export promotion, leaving much of Zambia’s agricultural potential untapped. By shifting policy attention towards these areas, Zambia could become a major exporter of crops and help meet the growing demand for food in the region.
