Lusaka, Zambia – Hot FM Zambia has terminated David Kazadi’s role as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect following his arrest in connection with undisclosed criminal allegations, the radio station announced in a statement today.
The media house stated that while it respects the legal principle of “innocent until proven guilty,” the nature of the allegations against Kazadi contradicts the broadcaster’s ethical standards.
“The integrity of Hot FM Zambia as a trusted media institution must be upheld,” read the statement signed by Hot Media Group Chairman Oscar Chavula. “As such, Mr. Kazadi no longer holds any position within the company or its affiliates.”
Authorities have yet to disclose full details of the case, but sources suggest the investigation involves financial misconduct. Police confirmed Kazadi’s arrest but declined further comment as the probe continues.
Hot FM Zambia assured listeners and partners that operations remain unaffected, with an interim leadership team already in place. The station emphasized its commitment to transparency and full cooperation with law enforcement.
Kazadi, who had led the popular radio station since 2020, has not publicly commented on the allegations. Legal analysts suggest his dismissal indicates the severity of the claims, as corporations often suspend executives pending trial rather than terminate them pre-emptively.
Industry watchdogs have praised Hot FM’s swift action.
