African Rivers has urged the global community to extend its support to the SADC region. During an event held today in Lusaka, themed “Saving Elephants From the Dangers of Climate Change in Africa,” Dr. Bobson Sikaala, the Chief Executive Officer of African Rivers, emphasized the organization’s commitment to wildlife conservation.
He revealed that African Rivers has devised a comprehensive plan for a transboundary wildlife conservation project set for 2024-2025. This initiative aims to implement innovative strategies to ensure the effective distribution of essential food packages for both humans and wildlife, highlighting the interconnectedness of their survival.
Dr. Sikaala further articulated the moral responsibility that humans bear in safeguarding animal lives, asserting that such protection is vital for fostering a balanced ecosystem that benefits both people and wildlife.
He called for collaborative efforts to address the pressing challenges posed by climate change, which threaten not only elephants but also the broader biodiversity of the region. By rallying international support, African Rivers seeks to create a sustainable environment where both humans and animals can thrive together, reinforcing the idea that the health of our planet is intrinsically linked to the well-being of all its inhabitants.
