Sean Tembo, the leader of the Patriots for Economic Progress (PEP), has taken legal action against President Hakainde Hichilema for his refusal to move into Nkwazi House, the official residence for the President of Zambia. Tembo has filed a petition with the Constitutional Court, citing the importance of the President residing in the designated official residence.
The petitioner, Mr. Tembo, claims that the President’s decision to stay at his private residence is causing unnecessary expenses for the public, as his daily trips to State House are a significant cost to the nation. The petition seeks to compel the President to move to Nkwazi House and reduce the financial burden on the country.
Mr. Tembo is worried about the safety of citizens as the roads leading to the President’s private residence are not suitable for a presidential convoy traveling at high speed. This concern was highlighted when a 30-year-old woman was recently hit by a motorbike which was part of the presidential motorcade. The petitioner believes that the President’s refusal to move to Nkwazi House is putting citizens at risk and is calling for action to be taken to ensure the safety of all.
A petition has been filed against President Hichilema’s decision to refuse to move to Nkwazi House, citing concerns about the allocation of public resources. The petitioner, Mr. Tembo, argues that Zambia is facing numerous challenges, including a shortage of medical supplies in hospitals, and that it is not justifiable to use public resources to accommodate one individual at the expense of the majority of citizens. The petition raises important questions about the responsible use of public resources and the priorities of government officials.
