The Auditor General Dr. Dick Chellah Sichembe has urged members of staff to continue striving for excellence and upholding professionalism in their discharge of duties.
Dr. Sichembe said this was premised on the need for the Office to continue to inspire confidence in the public who were true owners of the institution.
He said this when he opened the Annual Planning Meeting of the Office of the Auditor General for 2023 held at Legacy Resort in Lusaka.
The theme of the meeting is “Striving for Excellence, Quality and Professionalism at all times.”
The Auditor General expressed gratitude to staff for producing the report of the Auditor General on the accounts of the Republic for financial year ending December 2021 timely.
The import of this is that it gives decision makers an opportunity to take action as well as make timely decisions.
In the meantime, Dr Sichembe reminded members of staff that his office shall not condone any unethical behaviour such as corruption, Fraud or any other form of behaviour that may put the office into disrepute.
He said members of staff are expected to uphold the core values at all time which include integrity among others.
Dr Sichembe further disclosed that there are special reports that are under way namely procurement of petroleum products, Road infrastructure, the external public debt and GRZ Motor vehicle fleet management.
He called on staff to pay particular attention on developments that had taken place in Education, Health and Constituency Development Fund as these were critical audit areas for the year 2023.
Dr. Sichembe said his office remains committed to work in line with the Goverment’s agenda to transform the nation by prioritising Fiscal discipline through enhanced transperancy and accountability by protecting public resources.
