The Non-Governmental gender Organisations Coordinating Council has urged government to explain how the country’s debt will be addressed and how government revenue will be managed to ensure that the eighth national development plan is adequately resourced.

Appearing before the parliamentary select committee on the 8th National Development Plan, NGOCC Executive Director Anne Anamela said it is important that the strategies and programmes identified in the 8th NDP take into account the implementation of Zambia’s earlier plans and programmes to ensure better outcomes.

Mrs. Anamela said it is imperative that government outlines what will be done differently to ensure that this development plan does not suffer the same pitfalls of previous plans.

She has proposed that government should prioritise the development and sustainability of robust and integrated social protection systems to facilitate efficient, accountable and transparent delivery of social assistance benefits.
