The opposition Socialist Party has accused the UPND government of not being serious with the theft of public resources by its party members.

Party Spokesperson frank Bwalya alleges that the ruling party leadership is instead encouraging its members to steal for the purpose of mobilizing resources for the party.

Mr. Bwalya tells Phoenix News that it is not enough for the UPND to just state that whichever party member will be caught stealing public funds will be on their own but should do more to convince Zambians of how serious they are taking the fight.

He explains that even those that have been separated from civil services, were just dismissed because they allowed themselves to be exposed.

But UPND National Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa recently told journalists that the arrest and consequently separation of party members found party members from civil service is a clear sign of how serious the party in ending the vice.
